Cyprus: About PADI RESCUE COURSE and meeting people
May 2024 I went to #Latchi, #Cyprus.
One reason: Participate in the #PADI Rescue Course and Succeed.
I met great new divers and made some new friends. Above all, I had a great time and improved my diving skills by a lot.

Scuba Cyprus: Two Wrecks in Limassol Bay

Limassol Bay has two wrecks worth the dive. Close together so can be done on one trip. Constandis is a Sovjet trawler, sunk in 2014. She lies at 24m. Lady Thetis is a Cypriot passenger vessel, sunk in 2014. This one lies at 18-20m. Both wrecks hold a lot of fish, specialy some big groupers.

Hello, did you use a waterproof case for the 2 cameras or are they both directly in contact with salt water without a protective shell?

dji's image looks distorted a bit, gopro 10 is an older model, but the image quality is not bad at all
Distortion is due to wider angle setting. If the GoPro would have been set to wide it would show the same. Was set wrong on the DJI by mistake.

Did you use a red filter on any of them, ive just done a few dives in the red sea reef's and wreck's and i used the gopro 12 in 24fps and at linear angle and at 5.3k resolution, all using a red filter and came out in absolutely amazing quality and the red filter made an amazing difference, i took the red filter off at 25m and it made a hell of a difference like mostly blue and colours with torch not even as colourful as with filter, good luck and safe diving 👌

Used them for years, problem with red filters is the difference in depth. Works fine between 6 and 18 meters, above and below it doesn't. DJI has better capabilities between depths. Also, if I now turn on the lights I don't have to remove any filters.
Great video and dive !! I am myself in may on Cyprus and I got a question. I own a 3 mm and 7 mm wetsuit . What’s best to take beginnt of may?
Take the 7mm. You will have around 20 degrees in shallow water so 3mm will not keep you warm. Where will you be and when, Im there in May as well, Polis/Latchi.
Ich habe das Gefühl das das Gopro Material deutlich stabiler ist und nicht so ruckelt? Woran liegt das? Beim DJI Material wird mir teilweise schwindelig beim zuschauen
Liegt vor allem daran dass der GoPro auf linear steht und der DJI auf wide. Wenn ich beide mit gleicher Bildwinkel einstelle ist die Stabi gleich
GoPro looks much better and the 10 is an older model! The GoPro 11&12 does even better. I also have the Osmo Action 4 which has a better low light sensor than GoPro but underwater video lights can solve the problems. I also have the Insta 360 Ace Pro which is AWESOME but doesn’t have the 10 bit color feature that GoPro and Action 4 offer.
Hallo Alfred! Vielen Dank für diesen Vergleich. Ich habe meine Action 4 bisher nur beim Schnorcheln verwendet, überleg jedoch, ob sie nicht auch beim Tauchen eine praktische Backup-Kamera sein könnte. In größeren Tiefen scheint die DJI etwas "warmes" Wasser zu produzieren, was man am leichten Lilastich erkennt, aber das ist nichts, was man nicht mit zwei Klicks korrigieren könnte. Besser zu warme Farben als zu kalte. Was mich zur folgenden Frage bringt: Was ist denn die ungefähre Tiefe, in welcher der AWB der Action 4 ohne Kunstlicht noch halbwegs brauchbare Farben produziert? Die Aufnahme in knapp 30m sah noch korrigierbar aus, was man allerdings erstmal testen müsste. Die 10bit in D-Log sollten hierbei noch etwas mehr Fleisch bieten als die Standardeinstellung. Eine ungefähre Tiefe zu geben .... also jeden Meter tiefer macht es schon schwieriger, wie bei alle Kameras. Mit der Action 4 finde ich es noch akzeptabel so bis 28/30 meter. Tiefer verliert Mann schon echt mehr Licht und Farben. Ab GoPro 1 habe ich die GoPros verwendet bis GoPro 10. Für mich ist der Vorteil vom DJI das er im algemeinen mit de WB nicht so Blau ist wir bei der GoPro. Bis 22/24 Metern finde ich die Aufnahmen viel natürlicher. Und dann der sensor, die fangt schon bedeudent mehr Licht unterwasser und vor allem auch die Dynamic Range ist merkbahr Grösser. Schwarz ist hiermit schwarzer und helles Licht/Weiss besser unter Kontrolle.
@@AlfredStoppels Vielen Dank für die Info! Alle halbwegs brauchbaren Farben tiefer als 20m sind doch für eine solche Actioncam hervorragend. Ich habe in der Vergangenheit sehr viel mit Kameras von Canon und manuellem Weißabgleich per Graukarte gearbeitet. Und da musste man unterhalb von 25m auch schon viel nachträglich korrigieren. Insofern freue ich mich nach deiner Einschätzung schon die OA4 und ihren AWB mal in größere Tiefen Blauwasser zu entführen.

Hallo Alfred, danke für die Videos. Ich stehe gerade vor den Entscheidung, welche aktuelle Actioncam es werden soll. Da gibts ja drei zur Auswahl. Je mehr Vergleiche ich mir anschaue,, desto verwirrter bin ich. Mal is die besser, mal die Andere, je nach UA-camr :-P Daher hätte ich ein paar Fragen zu deinen Erfahrungen: Was mir auffällt und auch schon in anderen Vergleichsvideos aufgefallen ist. Irgendwie scheint der Stabi der Osmo das Bild öfters mal ein bisschen wabbelig zu machen. Die GoPro sieht da stabiler aus. Kannst du das bestätigen ? Vielleicht täuscht das auch durch die unterschiedlich eingestellten FOV. Hat die Osmo keinen engeren Bildausschnitt ?! Mich würde auch interessieren, ob die Osmo 4 eine stabileren bzw. gleichmässigeren AWB hat ? Bei den GoPros ändert der sich ja gerne sehr sprunghaft und macht eine Nachbearbeitung zur Fars. In deinem Video sieht das sehr konstant aus (auch die GoPro btw). Aber wahrscheinlich hattest du auch sehr gute Lichtbedingungen !? Wie schaut es mit dem Rauschverhalten aus ? Ist die Osmo 4 sichtbar besser als die GoPro wenn das Licht weniger wird ? Der grössere Sensor sollte das ja eigentlich liefern.
Wabbeln: Rocksteady ist schon in ordung, hat in diesem fall mehr mit bildausschnit zu tun. Sollte auf DeWarp stehen aber aus versehen war die bij der DJI auf Wide. AWB: Passt sich ja bei die situation an, wenn die ändert passt die AWB darauf an. Mann kann ja immer Manuel wählen Rauschen: Das ist bei wäniger ;icht schon viel besser, das merkt Mann bestimmt. Pass aber auf, genau wie bei ne GoPro stellt mann die ISO dan lieber nicht über 800 ein. (Ich bleibe bei max 400) Persönlich ist mir die bessere Dynamic Range wichiger Kaufgrund gewesen. Wenn Mann unterwasser sich die Lightbeams (Sonnenstrahlen) ansieht sind die so viel besser sichtbar beim DJI, auch bei gegenlicht ist viel mehr detail im licht. Denke mal das es leztzendlich ganz persönich ist, ich finde die AWB vom DJI jedenfalls viel besser aussehen

Osmo image randomly falls apart. I'd rather have to put a little work in and get a superior result from the GoPro
True, it does sometimes. Maybe a fix might come for this. For now that is (for the biggest part) solved by setting the WB to a fixed value, and not Auto.
Vielen Dank für den Vergleich der beiden Kameras:-). genau danach habe ich gesucht. Diesmal werde ich aufgrund der besseren Performance Unterwasser und vor allem dem WB Sensor zur DJI wechseln. Da spielt die DJI klar die Stärken aus. Noch ein Vorteil liegt für mich darin, die persönlichen Einstellung vor abzuspeichern und Unterwasser per taste zu wechseln. Das geht bei der Gopro nur per Display und ist deshalb für mich nicht nutzbar. Danke Dir 🙂
Du kannst auch bei der GoPro über die zwei Tasten Presets Unterwasser auswählen ;-)
Interessanter Vergleich! Irgendwie schaut das Footage der GoPro etwas lebendiger aus und etwas schärfer. Benutze meine Hero10 auch immer wieder gerne beim Schnorcheln 😁
Das lebendiche hat vielleicht mit dem vielen Blau zu tun? Im DJI ist deutlich mehr contrast und detail. Bei DJI sind zum beispiel die licht strahlen im wasser deutlicher zu sehen wegen des hoheren dynamic range GoPro sieht tatsächlich schärfer aus so aus der camera. In post was aber klar das bei DJI mehr detail ist und immer noch gut nach-geschärft werden kann.
